We booked our travel package through Tratoli, eagerly anticipating a well-organized journey which included a comprehensive day-trip priced at $300 per person. The plan was to enjoy a chauffeured car ride from our Warsaw hotel to explore the historic sights of Krakow, indulge in a leisurely lunch, and marvel at the wonders of the Salt Mine, all within a carefully timed schedule. Our day commenced on schedule at 0730 with a friendly young driver greeting us, though his limited fluency in English meant our interactions were minimal during the transit. Unexpectedly, we were first taken to the Salt Mine in the morning, a deviation from our intended itinerary, and not previously communicated. Post the underground excursion, we were treated to lunch at a charming Krakow eatery, where we learned that Tratoli would cover the first $5 of our meal, with any excess expense being our responsibility. The afternoon presented another twist, as we encountered a delay in our Krakow tour. The tour company decided to merge our group with another, resulting in a two-hour wait before we could begin at 1800, an inconvenience that led to missing out on visiting the Castle, as it closed right as our tour was set to commence. Furthermore, the late start forced us to take a break from the tour for a necessary dinner and restroom break, causing us to miss even more of the Krakow experience. Our return to the hotel culminated at 2330, concluding a day that was as exhausting as it was frustrating, falling short of our original expectations for a smoothly orchestrated and enlightening cultural tour.
