There's also a shuttle from Phang-nga for those relying on public transportation. It's much easier to visit as part of a guided tour that includes transportation from Phuket or Krabi, rather than trying to organize a tour on arrival.Tom Pariwat Wildlife Sanctuary is open daily, during normal business hours, though travelers who want to stay after dark can rent a bungalow or even pitch a tent. If you plan to do a lot of hiking, you may want to visit during the drier months (roughly November through April), while if you're a fan of foliage, you may wish to brave potential rains in order to see local plant life in full bloom.You’ll likely see plenty of wildlife in the park, particularly if you’re visiting on foot. Treeswifts, flycatchers, bulbuls, and parrots all call the sanctuary home. At the end of the rainy season in October, the magnificent blooms of the rare Rafflesia kerrii, the world’s largest flower at nearly 3 feet (1 meter) across. Occasionally, some of the region’s rarer inhabitants—the blue-banded kingfisher and white-handed gibbon—also make appearances.

Most visitors to Ao Luk come as part of a half-day or full-day tour, most of which depart from Krabi or nearby.<ul><li>Ao Luk is a must-visit for paddling enthusiasts.</li><li>Wear sunscreen and clothes that you won’t mind getting wet.</li><li>Most kayaking tours are suitable for beginners.</li></ul>Ao Luk is located about 30 miles (50 kilometers) north of Krabi. Buses traveling between Krabi and Phuket stop in Ao Luek. The journey takes about half an hour from Krabi or 90 minutes from Phuket. However, most tour operators offer free round-trip transfers from Krabi, eliminating the need to catch a bus or take a taxi.Ao Luk is warm throughout the year, but rain can be a big consideration in deciding the best time to go. The rainy season starts in April and can continue into November, while January through March tend to be a bit dryer (and, therefore, slightly warmer). If you want to stay cool, your best bet is to opt for a morning rather than an afternoon tour.An alternative way to explore the Ao Luk district is in the tree tops themselves. Tree Top Adventure Park, one of the area’s most popular attractions, takes visitors through the canopy from platform to platform by way of rope walks, zip lines, Tarzan swings, rope bridges, and even flying skateboards.

Highlights include bronze tools, glass beads, and stone ornaments, many of which are thought to date back to 3,000 BC.There are also Roman coins on display, along with many pieces of pottery and ceramic shards, which signify the region’s significance as a stop along the famed Silk Road—an ancient network of trade routes that stretched from the Mediterranean to China, Africa, and Indonesia. You can learn about this historic route with a guided tour of Silk Road sites in the region.*Entrance to the museum and the temple are free.*Remember that the temple is a holy place and dress respectfully, covering your knees and shoulders.*Remove your shoes before entering temple buildings in Thailand—you’ll normally see a sign and places to leave your footwear.*Some of the temple buildings have steps to access that might not be suitable for wheelchair users.The museum is inside the main Wat Khlong Thom temple complex in the district of Khlong Thom on the Petchkasem Highway, about 1 mile east of Krabi towards Trang. Alternatively, you can take a traditional songthaew (open-window bus) from Krabi town, which will allow for some nice views along the way.The Wat Khlong Thom Temple and Museum is open to the public year-round. The Krabi region is warm all year with average temperatures of around 80°F (27°C). As with most of the surrounding areas, the best time to visit is between November and March, when the temperature is cool and there is less rainfall. September and October see heavy rains, which might make exploring less enjoyable.One of Krabi’s most popular tourist attractions, the Tiger Cave Temple, or Wat Tham Sua, is a must-visit for many people traveling to Krabi. Climb the 1,200 steps to reach the top for panoramic views over the limestone rocks and the Andaman Sea—and don't forget your camera!
