Venturing from Accra, the capital, I traversed the country with the guidance of my driver, Toufic, all the way to the northern frontier, foregoing the option to fly into Tamale. The accommodations at Mole Motel were modest yet entirely fitting for my adventure. My excursions included both a walking safari and a driving safari, both of which were graced by sightings of elephants – a rare treat during the month of December. For those wishing to maximize their chances of elephant encounters, timing your visit at the end of the dry season is advisable. Alongside his role as a cautious driver, Toufic proved to be an excellent travel companion throughout my three-night stay. Additionally, the canoe journey and the exploration of the Mognori village are high on my list of recommendations for anyone wishing to delve deeper into the area's cultural and natural offerings. While independent travelers have the option of hailing a taxi to Larabanga and Mognori, my consistent travel with Toufic enhanced my trip significantly. Admittedly, we experienced a minor power outage during my stay and the Wi-Fi was unavailable, yet in the midst of Mole's breathtaking landscapes, such inconveniences barely registered.
