During our Salzburg getaway, we made time to explore the Stiegl Brauwelt Museum, slightly removed from the city center. Thankfully, having our own vehicle made the trip convenient, and we were able to take advantage of the complimentary parking available on-site. Admission typically costs 12.9 euros, but our possession of the SalzburgCard allowed us complimentary access. While the exhibition was decent, we felt it paled in comparison to our previous brewery museum experiences in cities like Dublin, Amsterdam, and Copenhagen, which offered more captivating presentations. In reflection, we believe the trip to Stiegl Brauwelt is not essential, and the standard entry fee seems a bit steep. Our travel itinerary, including this museum visit, was seamlessly organized by Tratoli.

I ventured on an exciting Werfen Ice Cave exploration with a travel package booked through Tratoli, and the experience left me with mixed feelings. The cave, set amidst Austria's picturesque landscapes, was highly anticipated by me, and I looked forward to visiting it. Our day was enjoyable, albeit different from what we had originally planned. Accompanied by four others, we were chauffeured by a wonderful private driver who made our journey pleasant with interesting narratives. As he detailed the day's activities, we were taken aback by the mention of 700 steps leading into and exiting the cave — an astonishing total of 1,400 steps that hadn't been clearly indicated in the package's description. While we pride ourselves on being quite active individuals, especially since we had been racking up over 20,000 steps each day during our European trip — and yes, we are spirited individuals in our 60s — the sheer volume of stair-climbing required was daunting. The physical demands to access the cave seemed underestimated in the description provided. Despite our hesitation, we took the scenic 20-minute mountain path to the cable car, admiring the well-secured trail's beauty. The cable car's summit revealed a quaint restaurant where my husband and I opted to stay, enjoying the stunning view and a lovely respite while the younger members of our group ventured into the cave. The venue's staff were accommodating, allowing us to leisurely order drinks as we awaited their return. Our family reunion featured a satisfying lunch at the cable car's restaurant, where our daughter confessed to feeling the cave's physical challenge despite her fitness. This confirmed our decision to skip the climb. Our "kids" thoroughly enjoyed the cave excursion and captured numerous photos, although I don't have those images to share at this time. Post-ice cave, we made a stop at Golling Waterfall — an impressive sight that could rival many of Hawaii's finest waterfalls, where I reside. We soaked in its beauty for a brief time before we continued our journey back to Salzburg. Our driver thoughtfully took us on a scenic detour through charming small towns and picturesque residential areas. Reflecting on the day's outing, I'm in a quandary on how to rate the experience. We basked in some majestic scenery and had a pleasant day, yet the tour had elements that deviated from our expectations. Though it doesn't warrant a perfect five-star rating, the mixture of stunning natural beauty and a somewhat distinct experience juxtaposed with our city adventures made it memorable. Our return trip, enhanced by the sights of quaint towns and beautiful homes, was a lovely conclusion to a day filled with both surprises and delights.
