Our experience with the Auschwitz tour, booked through Tratoli, fell short of expectations and was highly disappointing. Despite having an English-speaking guide, the heavy Polish accent, coupled with static-laden headsets, made comprehension a struggle. The pace felt unnecessarily hurried, which limited our ability to thoroughly absorb the exhibits and information captions. The oversized tour group further diminished the experience, as visibility of the historic site's numerous attractions was significantly obstructed. Ticket distribution was inefficient and consumed excessive time, which may have contributed to the rushed nature of the tour. Moreover, we weren't informed beforehand of the independent travel requirements from Auschwitz to Birkenau. Given the heat and our age—both of us being in our 70s—we had no alternative but to hire a taxi for 40 zloty, despite initial promises of assistance. The smaller group size en route to Birkenau made for a better experience, with clearer communication from the guide and a more inclusive approach. However, the lack of clear information regarding the need for separate transportation to Birkenau was a significant oversight. Had we known, we would have opted to use bicycles. Efforts to address this issue and suggest improvements to the tour operators through the guide were unfortunately dismissed. For future visitors, we strongly recommend verifying the logistics of the tour, including transportation arrangements and group sizes, to ensure a more informed and comfortable visit.

Ensure you steer clear of booking with the Auschwitz tour operator. I opted for a 'skip-the-line' excursion; however, they inconveniently shifted the schedule to earlier on the day preceding the original plan, citing a shortage of tour guides. Consequently, the tour was postponed to a few days later. Aggravatingly, the time was revised once more by four hours on the eve of the rescheduled date, with the notification coming less than 24 hours prior to the event, thus preventing me from securing a refund. For a seamless and reliable tour experience at Auschwitz, I advise seeking alternative reputable companies—completely bypassing this one for your travel plans.
