Visiting the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust was an enchanting experience. The care and dedication shown towards the animals was evident and truly inspiring. While some of the rescue stories were tinged with sadness, it was uplifting to learn about the rehabilitation and eventual release of these majestic creatures. The only drawback during my visit was the crowd size during the limited visiting hours of 11-12pm, which occasionally made it challenging to get an unobstructed view of the animals, despite having my zoom lens at the ready. At the Giraffe Center, the opportunity to view and feed the giraffes was beautifully arranged. However, I felt a lack of engagement from the staff, leading me to rely on my knowledgeable guide/driver to satisfy my curiosity with insightful answers. The enchantment continued with the Karen Blixen Museum, where the impeccable maintenance and thorough historical information provided by our guide truly enhanced the experience. The visit concluded with an opportunity to admire and potentially purchase art and crafts from local artisans, as well as enjoying a casual snack and the chance to sign up for various classes – a perfect time for photographs without the hustle and bustle of the crowd. Throughout the tour, the drivers were exceptional, always ready to share their knowledge and assist with any inquiries I had. However, the initial online price listed as $48 USD, which escalated to $80 USD during the booking process with Tratoli, did cause some confusion. Initially, I was forgiving, presuming it included all necessary fees such as entry charges and driver costs, only to discover that this was not the case upon arrival at our first destination. An additional payment of 5000 shillings for entry fees, which I was informed had not been transmitted by Tratoli, came as an unexpected and unfortunate surprise, adding an element of frustration to an otherwise delightful trip. A precise breakdown of costs at the time of booking would have greatly enhanced my satisfaction with Tratoli’s services.

Eager anticipation filled the air as we set sail in search of dolphins, and the ocean did not disappoint, granting us glimpses of these graceful creatures. En route to the reef, we geared up with snorkeling essentials—mask, snorkel, and flippers—with life jackets available for those desiring additional safety. The tour was thoughtfully structured, offering a generous duration of two swimming sessions, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience for swimmers of all levels. Lunch provided a delightful selection of chicken, fish, or a vegetarian option, with the added indulgence of extra seafood choices like lobster, prawns, or calamari for purchase. Post-meal, the tour offered a heartwarming glimpse into local village life, grounding our sea escapades with cultural enrichment before we sailed back to the mainland. The crew's passion for their role was evident throughout the day, ensuring our experience was nothing short of remarkable. They captured a treasure trove of underwater photographs, accessible via a Dropbox link, allowing us to showcase the day's highlights. The inclusive visit to the nearby Slave caves added a poignant historical dimension to our adventure, and I was grateful for its inclusion in the package price for a well-rounded and unforgettable experience.
