Though not a Buddhist myself, I found a resonance with their thoughtful philosophies and felt a deep sense of joy participating in the tour. The temple's architectural elegance was captivating, with its intricate structures, vivid hues, and historical paintings that truly bring ancient tales to life. The surrounding landscape was a haven of natural beauty, featuring serene koi ponds and picturesque bridges, creating a welcoming atmosphere for visitors of all ages. Further enhancing the visit, the Temple complex houses the remarkable Tongdosa Museum. The artifacts displayed were fascinating, made even more intriguing by the rich stories they carried. A highlight of the excursion was the shared meal with the monks, where I embraced a vegetarian feast that left me feeling delightfully closer to monastic traditions. Just a stone's throw away, we stumbled upon Cafe 도라지, a unique and artsy establishment that was once a residence and now transformed into a multifaceted cafe experience. From traditional floor seating to lofty rooftop views, every corner provided a distinct ambiance set against the backdrop of rustic farmland and tranquil water features. Our adventure continued to the Beopgi Water Reservoir, a location that defied expectations with its park-like setting characterized by orderly pathways, towering trees, and artfully arranged nature scenes. Ascending the hillside, we were greeted by a splendid panorama that deserved every snapshot captured, though I promise to share just a few key moments. Guiding us on this journey was MJ, our tour guide, whose enthusiasm and depth of knowledge made our experience both enlightening and entertaining. This trip marked my second with MJ and the Korea Must Visit Tour team, and it certainly won't be the last. I eagerly anticipate the next tour, assured it will be filled with more discoveries and memorable experiences.
