After pick-up in Bergen, we start the journey to the village of Gudvangen, and on the way we make a stop at Tvinde Waterfall where you can walk right up to the foot of the large waterfall. In the summer months we also stop at Stalheim where there is a breathtaking view down to the Naeröydal valley with steep mountains on all sides. Well ahead in Gudvangen we board the electric ship "Future of the Fjords" to Flåm. The Unesco World Heritage site Nærøyfjord is surrounded by high mountains and is a beautiful sight both in summer and winter. From Flåm, the trip continues with the dramatic and world-famous Flåm Railway which is one of the world's steepest railways. The 20-km train journey gives you a panoramic view of some of the wildest and most magnificent of Norwegian mountain nature, including the famous Kjosfossen waterfall. At Myrdal station, a train changes to the Bergen Railway which takes you to Voss where you are picked up and the car will take you back to Bergen.

The first half of our tour focuses on the history of Bergen. We wander the fortress complex, covering Bergen’s medieval history and short period as the capital of Norway. After this crash course in Norwegian history, we make our way to Bryggen – Bergen’s UNESCO Site. Here you learn about 1,000 years of trade history and the reason for Bergen’s founding and growth. The second half of our tour is about life in Bergen. We leave the ‘touristy’ part behind and wander into the neighbourhood surrounding Bryggen.
