Beating the crowds
By 10 AM this is Bali's busiest photo stop; at 7:30 AM it's a farm. Walk down into the terraces rather than shooting from the road café strip — ten minutes of walking loses ninety percent of the crowd, and the small donations farmers request along the paths are the fee that keeps the terraces farmed rather than fenced.
Good to know
- The famous swings are separate businesses — agree the price before you sit.
- Sideman and Jatiluwih offer grander terraces with a fraction of the visitors if you have another day.
