Marveling at the ancient iron chain structure, I felt the connection to Bhutan's past. The exploration advanced to the revered National Memorial Chorten in Thimphu, where I was touched by the sight of devoted elderly locals engaging in their spiritual practices. My day culminated with an inspiring visit to the majestic Tashichho Dzong, a fortress symbolizing Bhutan's spiritual heritage. Day two of my enthralling journey delivered panoramic views from the vantage point of the iconic Buddha Dordenma situated in Kuensel Phodrang. An encounter with the quirky Takin at the Motithang Takin Preserve highlighted Bhutan's distinctive wildlife. The route to Punakha was adorned with vistas of the Himalayas from Dochu-La Pass and the stirring sight of Druk Wangyel Chorten's 108 stupas. Encapsulating the day was the peaceful Chimi Lhakhang Temple, signifying fertility and the lively teachings of Lam Drukpa Kuenley. Our travel continued to the scenic Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, which could be accessed after an invigorating 45-minute hike, offering unparalleled views of verdant rice terraces and the winding river.
