Lino, our guide, proved to be a fountain of knowledge, eloquently elaborating on both the Cañada's history and the fine points of horsemanship. It felt truly special to be the first to reach the Cañada, far from the hustle of crowds, providing the perfect backdrop for unencumbered photographs. During the roughly two-hour exploration of the ruins, the varying hues on my photo map highlighted the terrain's elevation changes. A word of advice: come prepared with water, as that's all you're permitted to carry—unfortunately, my camelbak had to stay behind, and be mindful that restrooms are absent at the peak. Subsequently, a charming brunch awaited us at a nearby farm, where I even picked up a new hat for the horseriding segment. Back at the stables, Lino offered comprehensive riding instructions to ensure an enjoyable experience for all. The accompanying cowboys deserve praise for their vigilance, particularly when a fellow rider needed assistance. I do regret not inquiring with Tratoli about a private tour option, which could have provided an even more tailored day. The panoramic views throughout the day were breathtaking, and I must recommend dressing appropriately in long pants—despite my initial choice of a skort, I switched to capris, but jeans would have been the better choice against the cacti and mesquite along the trail. What truly caught me off guard was the superb prix fixe lunch. As a resident of the vicinity of Northern California's wine country, I have the privilege of regularly enjoying inventive culinary creations and sophisticated wine pairings, leaving little room for being easily swayed. However, the menu at Cuna de Tierra far exceeded my expectations, making the prix fixe meal a remarkable highlight. The exquisite menu has drawn me in, and I would venture back just for the pleasure of dining there once more. A well-deserved round of applause goes out to the chef for an exceptional culinary experience!
