To enhance the excursion, I would recommend that travelers be permitted to carry cameras in waterproof pouches, with the understanding that photography is allowed only at designated times as instructed by the tour guide. It seems excessive to incur an additional fee of $30 for photographs on top of the initial cost of $92, especially when considering the cumulative expense of multiple tours and the conversion rate to pesos. This practice feels somewhat unreasonable and could be revisited to ensure a more visitor-friendly experience.

Embarking on a late-season whale shark tour, I was keenly aware that sightings might be rare, with recent travelers reporting sporadic visibility and cancelled excursions due to these gentle giants' elusive nature. Despite lingering doubts prompted by tales of previous day sightings—which I suspected could be overly optimistic to secure bookings—my journey, booked through Tratoli, unfolded quite impressively. Carlos, our consummate guide, alongside a dedicated crew, left no stone unturned in their quest to deliver an unforgettable marine experience. Their relentless efforts were rewarded with a sighting of a magnificent devil ray, which we approached with the utmost respect and caution, ensuring minimal disturbance to its natural habitat. The encounter with the graceful creature was so extraordinary that it effortlessly justified the expense of the tour, even in the absence of whale sharks. One area for improvement, however, was the lack of vegan options provided onboard. Despite advance notice, the necessary dietary accommodations were not met. Fortunately, bringing my own lunch proved to be a sufficient workaround. All things considered, the adventure proved to be a very good experience overall, managing to leave a positive impression thanks to the team's knowledge, enthusiasm, and respect for marine life, providing a silver lining to my sea quest with Tratoli.
