Hitcham, our timely and proficient driver, was tasked with gathering us all for the tour. Despite the delay caused by late attendees, which wasn't his responsibility, his wealth of knowledge was a highlight of our journey. The initial leg of our adventure brought us to an ancient fortress, where despite the cloudy skies, the cable car ascent provided us with some rather picturesque views. The second destination on our tour was the Agadir Mosque. However, we were unaware until arrival that entry to the mosque itself was not permitted - a detail that should have been communicated during the booking process. Thirdly, we visited an Argan oil factory, which proved to be an intriguing place, albeit with a noticeable slant towards encouraging purchases. Our fourth planned stop was at the Old Souk market, yet it was closed, a vital piece of information that unfortunately eluded us at the time of booking. This oversight particularly stung as I had been looking forward to that part of the trip. Finally, we were steered towards an alternative market - smaller in scale, but still quite charming in its own right. Reflecting on the entire experience, I find myself grappling with the notion of value for money. Regrettably, my conclusion leans towards the average - a sentiment tinged with disappointment. While our driver and guide were delightful, the overall experience was somewhat undermined by incomplete information provided by Tratoli - a matter that future travelers would be wise to inquire about in more detail to optimize their own tour experiences.

This well-organized day trip to Essaouira, booked via Tratoli, offers a truly immersive experience, striking the perfect balance between guided tour benefits and the freedom of individual exploration. Our knowledgeable guide provided fascinating insights and knew exactly when to step back, allowing us to feel as though we were on a private adventure. With delightful stops—including one for freshly squeezed orange juice and another at an engaging female-run argan oil cooperative, far more authentic than the tourist traps of Agadir—each pause added to the richness of our journey. The route to Essaouira took about 3 hours, with the return trip slightly shorter at about 2 and a half hours. If you haven't visited Essaouira yet, missing out on even a day there would be a considerable oversight. Despite the long day, starting at 8:15 am and concluding past 6 pm, we only wished for an extra hour of free time to fully savor the medina. Even without professional gear, you'll be able to capture stunning photographs of the Portuguese fortifications, the bustling fishing port, and the typical souk shops nestled within the charming alleyways. Highly recommended for a fulfilling cultural and photographic experience—absolutely go for it!
