The trek itself took us about 1 hour and 45 minutes each way, culminating in a rewarding 45 minutes at the summit where we were enthralled by spectacular vistas and could indulge in icy treats sold by locals for $1.50. Despite a downpour during our descent that resulted in our group being drenched, the unexpected rain added a layer of authenticity and excitement to our excursion; it was a testament to the essence of travel and adaptation to the whims of nature. The fact that it's just water lent a sense of humor to our wet yet spirited return journey. Once at the volcano's base, we collectively chose to extend our enjoyment with a meal by Lake Coatepeque.
