Our journey commenced with a booking through Tratoli 45 days prior to the scheduled tour, payments made in full. We encountered the first hiccup when we realized the listing agent and the tour operator were not the same entity, and hailed from different cities—a surprisingly common practice, I learned. The evening before the tour, there had been no communication from the operator, prompting me to initiate contact myself at 8:00 PM—a move that left me wondering what would have transpired had I not been proactive. Instructions were clear: be at the pickup point (near the ATM machines at the city entrance) at 5:30 AM. We diligently arrived early at 5:15 AM, only to be left waiting until 6:15 AM when a minivan arrived, a full 45 minutes late. The driver, speaking no English and relying on my Turkish, said he needed to pick up two more passengers but assured us he'd return. Fast forward another 30 minutes, and the minivan reemerges, crammed with passengers, bolstering our wait to an excessive hour and 15 minutes—so much for witnessing a sunrise activity. We were then deposited onto an open, dusty field amid a maelstrom of balloons, people, and sheer cacophony. With no direction provided, I inquired about our designated balloon; the driver nonchalantly gestured toward a balloon at the field's edge. As we approached, we realized our balloon was only now being prepared, while others were already aloft, hinting that we were relegated to overflow despite booking well in advance. Moreover, the balloon intended for us had alarming holes, each roughly 18 inches. Despite the pilot's dismissive assurance that 'it was OK,' safety concerns, especially the gaping holes, were too prominent to ignore. When we rightfully declined and requested to be taken back, a so-called manager with limited English comprehension surfaced, challenging our decision since we had already paid. I motioned for the driver to proceed, refusing to engage in a fruitless debate with someone so evidently unconcerned for passenger safety. In sum, this experience was an utter fiasco—fraudulent, reckless, and beyond disappointing. The words fail to express my dismay appropriately, but let this serve as a caution to potential customers: steer clear of this operation.

Consequently, I recommend travelers steer clear from using the services of Excursion Mania due to this lapse. The situation left me with no choice but to opt for an alternative outing, which resulted in an unwelcome and lengthy two-hour wait outside the Uyum Hotel. Be mindful when planning your trips, as this experience can surely dampen the excitement of your travels.
