Opting for a little extra luxury, we invested 100 euros for a private driver. This thoughtful addition enabled me to relish the sleigh ride alongside my child, fully immersing in every precious moment without the distraction of driving. My son, who just turned 12, and I had an incredible experience with our Tratoli-booked travel package that took us on an adventure we'll never forget! We were promptly picked up and safely transported to the charming headquarters of this quaint family-owned business. Stepping in felt like entering a cozy living room, and despite already wearing layers of good clothing, they provided everything necessary to ensure our comfort during the almost -30-degree cold. We took a further journey by van to Lake Inari, riding in a sleigh pulled by a snowmobile. The team was dedicated to seeking out the Northern Lights, checking to find the best spot. We first headed north, then east, where the lights were predicted to be the most vibrant. At the Kota on the little island, we fed reindeer and warmed up by the fire, roasted sausages, and baked bread. The delicious salmon soup and a delectable dessert completed the experience. It was a special occasion since my son celebrated his birthday on February 21st; he even received a fantastic Lapland-style neck warmer as a gift while being serenaded with 'Happy Birthday'. After hours of enjoying the great outdoors and the stunning celestial scenes, we were safely returned to Saariselkä in the pitch dark, journeying over the vast lake and then by van right to our doorstep. The friendly people accompanying us created an unforgettable ambiance filled with casual conversations, mutual curiosity, and great flexibility—they even invited us to join a day earlier when the conditions were already favorable, showing their commitment to providing the best experience possible. Our small group of six was buzzing with excitement when one person thought they spotted a wolf. The guides were just as curious and took us to investigate the tracks; it turned out to be a fox, yet this demonstrated how spontaneous and adaptable the trip was, with adventures unfolding in real-time.
