Embarking on a Moroccan adventure, four friends from Barcelona eagerly booked a desert excursion through Tratoli to ensure a seamless experience. Our voyage began with a delightful pickup from our Riad in Fez at 8 AM by our cheerful driver, Mustapha, who expertly navigated a spacious 7-seater van for our 9-hour journey to the sands of Merzouga. Along the way, we were treated to entertaining stops that included playful encounters with wild monkeys, perfect for a photo op. Mustapha kept spirits high with an eclectic mix of Arabic tunes, Spanish pop, and current hits that had us all singing and dancing along. Upon reaching the desert's edge, a rugged 4x4 awaited to transport us closer to the camel rendezvous point, where a warm tea invitation prefaced our camel trek. Mohamed, our young guide, led us through the dunes, later doubling as an adept photographer capturing us amidst the stunning sunset. A thrilling race down the dune's peak was a moment of pure joy, shortly followed by a serene camel ride to our camp. Privately hosted, just for us four, the camp welcomed us with open arms—Salah Tshalou presented us with tea and delightful conversation. Our Jaima, unexpectedly luxurious with double beds, en suite facilities, and a shower, served as our oasis. A communal dinner introduced us to a delightful family, post which Salah, Mohamed, and our friend Younes treated us to a lively percussion music performance around a bonfire, inviting us to join the singing, dancing, and instrument playing. The nighttime desert offered a celestial extravaganza as we lay on blankets amidst the sands, trading riddles, sharing desert tales, and marveling at the intense starlit sky. Seemingly a universe away from everything, we returned to our Jaima, contentedly retiring for the night. Greeted by a golden sunrise, our morning continued with a hearty breakfast before retracing the camel tracks back to the 4x4 and reuniting with Mustapha. But there was more; a pleasant detour to Risani led us to a Spanish-speaking guide who unveiled the town's vibrant marketplace, offering fascinating insights into local herbs and spices. Our time there culminated in lovely purchases, benefiting from the excellent value on offer. As we reflected on our journey back to Fez, making convenient stops to refresh, we unanimously agreed: this was an extraordinary experience we'd love to repeat, perhaps spending more tranquil nights in the desert. The warmth and amiability of everyone we encountered left a lasting impression, forging friendships we hope to rekindle in future journeys. Grateful for every heartfelt moment, we're left with beautiful, everlasting memories, all thanks to our booking with Tratoli.

We had a delightful experience exploring with Mostafa during our day trip, a highlight of the travel package we arranged through Tratoli. The journey between destinations was leisurely, allowing us to engage in enriching conversations and to absorb Mostafa's insights into the history, lifestyle, and traditions of the local regions we visited. We were particularly enchanted by the ancient ruins of Volubilis and the charming lunch we shared in Moulay Idriss. Both in Volubilis and Meknes, we appreciated the freedom to roam independently, facilitated by the convenience of a provided mobile phone to contact Mostafa when we were ready to reconvene.
