I had an unforgettable experience during my excursion to the majestic Forbidden City, a gem that no photograph can do justice. Standing within its expansive walls, I was truly in awe of its grandeur, an embodiment of beauty and history where each aspect holds a deep significance. To truly appreciate the rich tapestry of meanings interwoven throughout the site, having an expert guide is essential—a lesson I learned firsthand. Booking through Tratoli turned out to be a stroke of fortune, especially with Kathy as my guide. She excelled at illuminating the intricate architectural details, unwrapped the complex historical narratives, and went above and beyond to ensure my comfort throughout the visit, including offering frequent hydration reminders. Kathy's expertise transformed a simple tour into a deeply personal journey through China's past.

Our excursion to the Terracotta Warriors, courtesy of Tratoli, was nothing short of phenomenal, and our guide Celine played a significant part in making the experience so memorable. Her punctual pick-up from our hotel, amiable demeanor, and excellent command of English set the tone for the day. The vehicle provided for our journey was pristine, complete with complimentary water bottles, ensuring a comfortable hour-long drive to our destination. Celine proved to be an adept guide, sharing the rich history of the site, which complemented my own extensive anticipation since seeing some of the artifacts in Edinburgh back in 1985. She masterfully maneuvered us through the crowds, suggesting an inverse tour starting from Pit 3 to 2, avoiding the throngs of bus tour attendees at Pit 1. Celine's strategic guidance allowed us intimate views of the magnificent Terracotta Warriors, often described as the 8th Wonder of the World, without feeling overwhelmed by the visitor influx which she mentioned could reach up to 65,000 a day. Her patience shined through, as she allowed us ample time to absorb the sight, captured photos of us, and offered choices when available. We also had the opportunity to visit a tea shop and explore various gift shops, with Celine providing valuable insight into the quality of the items for sale, and assisting us with any street vendors we encountered. Our comprehensive visit also included the scenic Xian Mosque, the bustling Muslim Bazaar, and the historic Bell and Drum Towers. Xian's charms were on full display, solidifying its status as a destination worthy of anyone's itinerary. Returning to our hotel around 5 pm, the day with Celine was truly unforgettable. The ease, comfort, and safety of the transport added to the overall satisfaction of the day. Organizing an independent tour could be an option, but I found that the Tratoli package, with its combination of exceptional guidance, smooth logistics, and tremendous value for money, is highly recommendable. I sincerely hope this review proves useful to future travelers. Warm regards, Stuart

Our family, consisting of one adult and two children under ten years old, has embarked on a captivating three-day journey along the Great Wall of Beijing, skillfully guided by Catherine Lu Tours. With fifteen segments of the wall to choose from, we sought a path less trampled by tourists, craving both authenticity and the magnificent vistas we'd longed to witness. Ten days before our travel, we engaged in a thorough selection process for the wall sections, drawing insights from video clips and testimonials on YouTube. These resources proved invaluable as we balanced our desires with our physical capabilities. The logistics were seamlessly handled, with our guide, Peter, consulting us on departure times from our hotel to avoid Beijing's notorious rush-hour traffic—an example of the thoughtful planning that characterized our trip. We took a clean, smoke-free sedan driven by a professional and respectful driver, ensuring the children could rest comfortably on our return trip. On the wall from 9 am to 1 pm, we explored for four fulfilling hours, ascending 21 watchtowers and encountering few other visitors, which allowed us to soak in the scenery and indulge our curiosity. Peter engaged with every question my inquisitive children posed, covering topics from history and culture to architecture and science. The journey was facilitated by the presence of rubbish bins and mobile toilets along the route, and the occasional village shop at some towers offered conveniences for those less prepared. Peter was attentive to my children's safety, especially accompanied my youngest during challenging ascents, leaving me confident in their wellbeing. Post adventure, we descended the hill to our waiting vehicle, taking a moment to savor the view of a golden ginkgo tree—a striking contrast to the less mature greenery in the city. Peter had thoughtfully provided us with local baozi for breakfast, and after our hike, we savored a delicious meal at a local restaurant, appreciated for both its flavors and reasonable prices. As we reflect on our experience, we're grateful to have booked through Tratoli and eagerly aim to return—perhaps for an overnight stay and a day-long hike, undoubtedly accompanied once again by the expert guidance of Peter or another adept member of Catherine Lu's team.
