- Visit Bulguksa which is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site for being “a masterpiece of Buddhist art in the Far East.” If you are in the temple, you will see blooming cherry blossoms in spring and colorful foliage in fall.
- In the Seokguram Grotto, you can see statues of devas, bodhisattvas and disciples sculpted on the surrounding walls. After that, you will have Tteokgalbi(grilled short rib patties) for lunch.
- Here you can watch the animated movie about this thousand year old Silla Kingdom. Take a look at Silla dynasty. The value of the show is on a par with a national treasure of Gyeongju.
- The Daereungwon tomb has the large ancient tombs of kings and nobles of the Silla Kingdom.
- Near this tomb complex, there is Chemseongdae Observatory which is the oldest surviving astronomical observatory in Asia. The name of this observatory means star-gazing tower.
- Around Chemseongdae Observatory, you will see a mix of old historical buildings and newly built hanok at Gyeongju Gyochon Hanok Village. You will figure out how they used to be back in the days. There are lots of handcraft shos and cafes too.
- You can find relics of a thousand year from Shilla Kingdom!
- From the tomb complex, your guide will take you to the Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond. This place is known as Anapji. You can see the most beautiful nightscape in Gyeongju. Our travel experience, facilitated through Tratoli, was a mixed affair with both positive elements and areas needing improvement. The transport provided was excellent, and unexpectedly, we enjoyed the serenity of a private tour since it was just the two of us. One of the highlights of the service was the impeccable punctuality during pick-ups. Nevertheless, the excursion deviated from the advertised schedule; we noticed this change right from the first stop. Upon inquiry, our driver, who had presented himself as a certified guide, shared that not all the planned locations were on his list from the company, and completing all of them within the 11-hour timeframe was not feasible. This led to a shortened tour, missing out on promised destinations which was a letdown. Additional challenges included the driver's insufficient explanation of sites due to his limited command of English, reducing the enriching aspect of the tour. Moreover, his tendency to yawn frequently while driving raised concerns about our safety and his level of engagement. Taking charge of the situation, we directed our stops instead of relying on expert guidance to optimize our time. Despite the driver proposing an early conclusion to our day, we insisted on exploring a quaint village from the itinerary and savored dinner there – fulfilling the tour's anticipated 11-hour duration. Had we followed the driver's suggestion, our tour would have been cut short by two hours. In summary, while the transportation quality and personal touch of a private tour were commendable, our expectations for a comprehensive, guided tour spilled over into self-navigation due to an incomplete itinerary and limited engagement from our driver.
